Steve Doherty is a retired US Air Force officer and aviator. Crossroads is Steve’s fifth book in a series of historical fiction novels involving the American counterintelligence agent Jonathan Preston. See the Books section for details.
Steve grew up in the small community of Muldoon, Texas, sixty miles southeast of Austin. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, and his master’s degree from Chapman University in Orange, California. Steve completed post-graduate work at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
Steve entered the Air Force in 1973. He attended Officer’s Training School at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Undergraduate Navigator Training at Mather AFB, California, where he trained in the T-29C. His first assignment was at Minot AFB, North Dakota, where he flew the KC-135A. He then went to Mather AFB in Sacramento, California, where he was a Flight Instructor at the USAF Navigator Training School. While there, Steve was awarded a Doctorate in Flying Training. His next assignments took him to Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas, Wright-Patterson AFB, in Dayton, Ohio and finally Newark AFB in Heath, Ohio. He retired in 1993.
Steve currently lives in New Albany, Ohio, a suburb on the northeast side of Columbus.
